Banking Operations Officer II

Our client, a leading Canadian banking institution, is looking for an Operations Officer to join their growing team. We are looking for recent grads with advanced MS Excel skills and previous banking industry experience.

 

Contract term: 15/02/2018 to 14/02/2019 (1 year), possible extension

Pay rate: $17.34/hour

Full-time: 37.5 hours

Schedule: Monday - Friday, either 8:30am - 5:00pm 

 

Must have: 

  • Data entry skills
  • Intermediate Excel knowledge (formulas, pivot tables, V-lookup)
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Quick Learner with capability to take on various tasks
  • Processing experience is highly preferred

 

Summary: The main function of the Operations Officer is confirming transaction details using various methods of confirmation including phone, fax, swift and email.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Timely and accurate confirmation of MM transactions
  • Maintain sufficient audit trails on all confirmations
  • Ensure the tracking system is updated daily
  • Ensure all unconfirmed trades are escalated to Management and Front Office on time
  • Work with areas of business
  • Develop and maintain sound working relationships
  • Actively participate in developing, testing and implementing new or enhanced processes 
  • Provide assistance to other Confirmation Officers when necessary
  • Protect the interests of the Bank by adhering to operating standards and processes
  • Act as a point of contact for customer queries

Skills:

  • Ability to adhere to strict deadlines and handle high volumes of work
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team
  • Ability to adapt to changing policies and procedures
  • Understanding of MM and FX Products (eg. Options, Foreign Exchange spots and forwards, Money Market deposits and loans)
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office, proficiency in Excel is a must, coupled with the ability to learn and apply skills to new software programs.
  • Knowledge of Global and WSS platforms would be an asset.

Education/Experience: University degree or college diploma is highly preferred or equivalent experience. 1-2 years experience in a Trade Processing related role, preferably experience with cash products.
