Plant Controller

Our client is one of North America’s largest independent manufacturers of consumer packaged goods (CPG), curently we are looking for a Plant Controller to join the company in Concord Location.

The Plant Controller is responsible for oversight of, and direct involvement in the entire facilities accounting function including ownership of the business’ books and records. This includes all aspects of the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, reconciliation and basic reporting functions associated with general ledger management, external and internal audit management. Works with management staff to maintain adequate internal controls and safeguard company assets.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES 

•          Oversight of, and direct involvement in, the entire facilities accounting function, including ownership of the business’ books and records. This includes all aspects of the monthly, quarterly and annual close processes, reconciliation and basic reporting functions associated with general ledger management, external and internal audit management.

•          Produce a monthly in-depth controller’s report for the General Manager and other executive management, as needed, that details the business’ operations and performance.

•          Review/approve all financial reporting information, support schedules and variance analyses.

•          Responsibility for proactive identification of organizational and operations risks related to financial reporting, as well as developing efficient processes to manage identified risks as the company grows.

•          Assist plant management in the decision making process that allows for profit maximization or cost minimization.

•          Communicate with plant personnel and observe plant operations in order to assist with and to make recommendations for improvement in plant operations.

•          Managing the business’ financial reporting systems and polices, amending current practices where appropriate to ensure accuracy in reporting.

•          Manage the General Ledger, Cost, Inventory, Fixed Assets.

•          Review EBITDA on an ongoing basis and calculate and provide the projected EBITDA on an ongoing basis

•          Monitor, approve and analyze all plant spending

•          Manage the audit and review procedures for areas of responsibility and provide information as needed to independent auditors and internal auditors.

•          Set measurable objectives and goals for the accounting team in its support of the business and the company’s core objectives.

•          Oversee and participate in the creation of the annual budget. And provide for the continual monitoring of, the business’ annual budget to ensure cost-effective management.

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

·         Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, or preferably a CPA, CA certificate. Proficient in US GAAP.

·         Industry experience must include manufacturing (large plant environment preferred

·         Thorough understanding of manufacturing plant operations.

·         Must meet deadlines and deliver quality results

·         Inventory Control background that includes interacting with Plant personnel and do department walk troughs’ to check for any inventory discrepancies.

·         Ability to work in fast paced environment

·         Excellent communicator, both written and verbal

·         Proficient with Microsoft Office Products

·         Experience with JD Edwards preferred, but not required
